I work for an incredible magazine, we are an online music magazine. Don’t even ask how the name came about, we will leave the guessing up to you. We started in October 2009. Magazine33 is now 3 cities strong and growing into more cities. I am a writer for the magazine and have been since the Charlottesville staff started. There are big things happening for Magazine33, a lot to come for Magazine33 in the next year. 2010 is going to be a great year for Magazine33. If anyone has any ideas or suggestions for the magazine than you can contact Heather Mullican at magazine33@live.com
My name is Angela Bean but everyone calls me Bean. I cover mostly the hip hop genre but since I live in Staunton and I am the only writer from the Charlottesville staff that lives in Staunton, well, I try to cover a wide variety of musicians in each genre. I work for Magazine33 because I love my job, I love being a writer but mostly I do this job because I think it is important to get the word out about local musicians. I work for the musicians, I am here to get the word out about their music. Getting them known and letting people know who they are is what is important.
When I started with the magazine my first interview was with rapper & CEO of Hard Life Records, Shaun Jeas and Mr. Sin. Then I did an interview after that with Lady Redd. I started doing interviews in the hip hop genre. But then I spread out and decided to do a rock band Drop Zone. After Drop Zone I interviewed Tom Goss who is in the pop music genre. I’ve interviewed Secret Agent T who is a rock band from Harrisonburg. I also sat down with Caroline Guenther who is a local from Staunton, VA whom is a folk singer. Caroline sounds like a mix of Ani Difranco and Tori Amos. I recently went and interviewed The Smell of Death who is a heavy metal band. They were recording their album and they performed 3 songs for my wife and I. It was a great show which would move you and make your face melt all at the same time. Their goal is to make your face melt and to rock out and have fun at their shows. They give off incredible energy when they perform. They are definitely heavy metal as you can get. The first song they performed for us was Welcome To Hell, a great song that will make you feel like you’re going to hell. They had us for dinner and then went and performed. After we left they stared working on their new album that they are recording. They will be playing at the Darjeeling Cafe in Staunton, VA for the Metal Festival on April 16, 2010. To check out some photos of musicians I have interviewed check at the end of the blog.
Magazine33 just added the city of Fredricksburg to the Magazine33 lists of cities. So now we have Richmond which is the original city, the city where the headquarters is, Charlottesville and now Fredricksburg. You will see us with a tent set up at the Richmond Vegetarian Festival in June 2010 in Richmond, VA.
