The media is to blame for pit-bulls reputations

As an owner of a pit-bull I felt I should write an article about pit-bulls. I will post a photo of my pit-bull so you can see how sweet he is. He is not mean at all, he is a loving part of our family.

As owner of a pit-bull I know that the myth that pit-bulls are mean, vicious animals is untrue. The media is to blame for this. If you can remember years back about the owner who had several pit-bulls who attacked a woman in New York in her apartment building. After that story aired the pit-bulls reputation got worse. The media is to blame. We may not know the reason why the pit-bulls attacked that woman but that’s just it, there had to be a reason. Animals don’t tend to attack humans for no reason. They tend to normally attack when they feel threatened. That woman had to of either done something to make the dogs attack her or someone else did something to them. Or it could be that the dogs were raised to be fighting dogs. Pit bulls that were raised to be fighting dogs tend to be more aggressive dogs. The media takes one story and blows it out of proportion. With them blowing it out of proportion this tends to make lots of people very frightened and you should know by now that most people believe everything they see on TV and believe everything they read in the papers. It is the media that is responsible for demonizing pit-bulls just because the reputation they are getting and the media is the reason to blame for this. The media makes pit-bulls out to be vicious, mean dogs that will maul you and kill you. I have a pit-bull so I know that their reputation is just that a myth, I do admit some pit-bulls may be aggressive and harm you but that doesn’t mean that every pit-bull is that way. My pit-bull has not once tried to attack me or harm me in any way at all. At times my dog will knawel on my arm just playing around but he’s never aggressive. Us pit-bull owners have the stupid media to thank for the reputation our dogs have been given. It is the media yes that is responsible for demonizing pit-bulls. The dogs that were beaten, slammed, drowned and disposed of like garbage never got to plead anything, except to cry and howl in agony and suffering. I’m glad Michael Vick is being treated humanely with the opportunity at a reduced sentence, because I don’t want any more of us to become like him, to be devoid of empathy or common decency. It’s easy to get on a high horse when thinking about these things, but get on it we must, or be trampled by those who would just as soon kick helpless animals to the curb than to love them or care for them. People like Michael Vick are the reason that pit-bulls get such a bad reputation. What the media isn’t showing is how dogs that are trained to fight are being taken care of. The media only demonizes these animals they don’t show what is really going on. These pit-bulls are being abused and beaten and treated unfair. And you wonder why a pit-bull will attack you. If you treat it like this no wonder.
